Get to Know Our Work: Iowa Irish Fest Brand Identity
Welcome to the next installment of our blog series “Get to Know Our Work,” where different members of our team will take the time to introduce their favorite project. A year after graduating from the University of Northern Iowa, Delynn, our graphic designer, found herself at Impact Marketing working on multiple projects, including brand identities for big-name Cedar Valley clients.

As a graphic designer, I get to take on multiple tasks, from logo design to social media. Recently, I worked on rebranding the Iowa Irish Fest, and I would have to say that this has been my favorite project so far with Impact. It has been a fun challenge to connect traditional Irish culture with the many elements included in a rebrand. For example, there are 25+ Iowa Irish Fest stamps that will represent different events during the festival this summer. The three stamps that embody Irish culture the most are combined to make the main logo that will be on all branding for IIF, such as posters, tickets and social media.
When our team was first assigned this task, we broke into three groups to work on our different ideas and came together to present these ideas. One of my favorite things during this process was how we all took different directions with the rebranding, and how in the end, the final brand combined elements from everyone’s initial designs.
Once the client agreed on a style, one of the first things I did was work on in-depth branding guidelines. This document contains the logo treatment, colors, backgrounds, typography, supplemental design elements and much more. These guidelines are used to help create a consistent appearance for the festival.
If I was required to pick one favorite element from the whole project, it would be the headline font Thorben because it is inspired by Celtic script but adds a modern twist. It is also unique enough that it will be able to stand alone and represent the Fest. Overall, brand design and development are some of my favorite parts of the job, and I’m proud of the work our team did on this project.
