One of my favorite projects I’ve worked on here at Impact was a set of TV commercials promoting the 2021 Iowa Irish Fest, held annually in downtown Waterloo. The Fest is an extremely important part of the entertainment that provides family-friendly fun, cultural experiences, and lots of excellent music (with a fresh brew or two to boot). These experiences were the focal point of the first commercial, which showed video footage of the activities one could experience at the Iowa Irish Fest. Additionally, this commercial encouraged festgoer to download the new IIF app and purchase tickets.
It’s important to note that this commercial utilized important elements of the Fest’s previous branding – such as recognizable typography and bright shades of orange and green. Since then, Impact has had the pleasure of establishing a new brand for the Fest – which you can learn about here.
The second commercial we did was for Cedar Valley Primary Care & Walk-In Clinic, one of the premier partners of the 2021 Fest. CVPCW manned the first aid tent, and as a newly established practice, they wanted to get their name out to a wide audience. We crafted a humorous commercial about “preparing” for the Fest, featuring some men in kilts.
CVPCW had previously done a few television commercials through us, so one of the major challenges we had to overcome was balancing their brand with the IIF brand. We incorporated several humorous elements, such as the ending (which you should definitely watch below) in addition to a first-person narrative to grab the listener’s attention.
